What is AI or Artificial Intelligence ?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is the science and engineering of intelligent computer programs and intelligent machines. It is important to understand human intelligence by doing similar act via using computers. However, AI is not limited itself to methods which are observable biologically. To go deep into its definition, intelligence is the computational aspect of the capability. There are varying degrees and kinds of intelligence occurs in human being, animals and machines. Intelligence is associated with mechanism where AI research has found how computers can carry out some of them and some not. If task requires only mechanism in the doing process, those are well understood today where computers or machines can give highly impressive performance. In this manner, with the use of AI, one can learn how to make machines handle problem by observing people around or via its own methods. This is how, AI is involved with most of the work which are relating to studying the problem as presented to intelligence than studying human or animals.

AI is generally considered as support tool for people using technology rather than serving as human replacement or at least human knowledge. AI is presently facing huge challenges to complete common-sense tasks in our day to day life. However, it is adept at analysing and processing large volume of data much faster than ever before and even faster than human brain could. AI can send number of synthesized plan of actions and place it before real-life users. In a way, people can use AI to help and churn out possible outcome from each action and streamline the actionable decision process. Some says, AI is kind of second coming of software. It can be seen, as software that takes its own decision and is able to act in a situation which was not even predicted by programmer himself or herself. Thus, AI has larger latitude of ability for decision making as against traditional software. These traits make AI as highly valuation across number of industries including customer support areas where human interfaces and interactions are very high.

Today, automation technologies are playing greater role in our daily life, with the use of AI and its applications such as machine learning, deep learning, robotic play, etc. The effect of such technologies, in the workplace is unsurprisingly getting attention from all research experts and institutions. It is getting to a level, where questions are being raised that which job will remain for human alone or will not be replaced by machine. McKinsey research suggests that story of automation technology is more nuanced. While the effect of this technology penetration in workplace and resulting elimination of human jobs in the next decade may be limited, but it will have impact on almost every area of functional tasks in greater or lesser degree. At this stage, automation is crossing its boundary from routine or repetitive jobs to other areas at least at the level of technical feasibility. This is going to transform some of the sectors such as healthcare and finance in the coming days which involves huge amount of knowledge work.
